Summer Reading Opportunities!! #TheSAGSway

National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society students were grateful to help Mayor O'Connell, Mrs. O'Connell, and friends set up the flags for Memorial Day Weekend. One of the NJHS members, Ben Nicholson, found his grandpa's flag when we were setting up. On Memorial Day we honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, and to also support the family members of those we have lost.

Last week, the 6th and 7th students went to the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. It was a fun and interacting day of learning.

On Saturday, the Girls on the Run team finished their season with a 5k in Chicago. It was a wonderful event with beautiful weather. The girls even had special stickers to encourage the people behind them. A huge thank you to all of the adults who came as running buddies for the girls. Congrats to GOTR for a great day of fun, excitement, and girl power!

🟢GIANTS IN THE CLASSROOM🟢
In Ms. Goodrich's 5th grade science lesson, students explored how incredibly salty the ocean is, even though we can't see the salt. In the activity, Tiny Ocean, students created a model ocean to observe how salt seems to completely vanish when dissolved in water. Students then measured and graphed quantities of the water and salt to provide evidence that, even though we can’t see it, the salt still weighs the same amount. Students also created a model salt flat, allowing the water to evaporate, leaving the salt behind.
