🟢GIANTS IN THE CLASSROOM🟢 In Mrs. McDaniel's 5th grade ELA classes, students celebrated the end of the unit by doing activities related to several of the stories they read in the unit. One story was about an astronaut so an activity they did was an astronaut challenge. Another story was about a family who immigrated from Cuba and their Thanksgiving celebration. To go along with this story, students took a virtual field trip to Cuba and also enjoyed some Thanksgiving foods. Another story was about a girl named Jennifer and how she grew to love her name. Students completed an art project where they made their name with bubble letters. #TheSAGSway

🟢GIANTS IN THE CLASSROOM🟢 Junior high students got to experience education outside the classroom. 8th graders got the opportunity to travel to Springfield. They visited the capitol building, Lincoln's tomb, and Lincoln's presidential library and museum. The 6th and 7th graders went to Chicago to explore the Museum of Science and Industry. MSI has a lot to offer including The Anne Frank Exhibit, the science center, the weather center, and the train model of Chicago to Seattle. Sometimes the best learning happens outside the classroom. #TheSAGSway

🚢🌊 SAILING INTO STEM! 🌊🚢 ⚓ Columbus Day STEM Challenge! ⚓ Mrs. Schneider’s Kindergarten class and Ms. Goodrich’s 5th graders teamed up for a fun, hands-on STEM adventure! 🧠💡 In honor of Columbus Day, our young engineers were challenged to design and build a boat using recycled materials! ♻️⛵ But there was a catch… Their boats had to FLOAT! 💦 Working together, our kindergarten and fifth-grade buddies put their creativity, problem-solving skills, and engineering minds to the test! Students explored the concepts of buoyancy, balance, and boat design while learning that great ideas often come from teamwork and a little trial and error! From brainstorming and building to testing their creations in water, these young inventors discovered that STEM is all about thinking, creating, experimenting, and learning together! 🔬✨ 💙 Big kids + Little kids + BIG ideas = AMAZING STEM adventures! 🚢 Learning was definitely smooth sailing… or at least we hoped it would be! 😂🌊 #STEMChallenge #ColumbusDay #KindergartenBuddies #FifthGradeLeaders #FutureEngineers #HandsOnLearning #SAGS

🟢GIANTS IN THE CLASSROOM🟢 The 4th graders in Mrs. Vallejo's ELA classes ate like serfs from the Middle Ages today! Most meals for serfs, farmers and their families who worked for lords and nobles, consisted of bread (often rye) and water. #TheSAGSway

As we begin the search for our next Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, we recognize and thank longtime Hall of Fame Coach Rick Schoon. A professional career change has led to Coach Schoon being unable to continue in this role, but his dedication, leadership, and lasting impact on generations of Cardinal student-athletes will remain an important part of St. Anne basketball.

We are seeking a coach who will build on that proud tradition while developing our student-athletes’ skills, character, teamwork, and commitment to excellence—on the court and in the classroom.

Join us in thanking Coach Schoon for his years of service and share this opportunity with anyone ready to help lead the next chapter of Cardinal basketball!

🟢GIANTS IN THE CLASSROOM🟢 We had some wiggly visitors in science last week in Ms. Goodrich's 5th grade classes! 🪱🔬 We are learning about decomposers and the important role earthworms play in our ecosystem. Years ago, people thought worms were harmful to gardens, but Charles Darwin studied them and discovered just how HELPFUL they are! Our students became scientists themselves, observing how worms move and where they choose to go. We learned that worms break down dead material, loosen and aerate the soil as they tunnel, and leave behind nutrient-rich castings (worm poop! ) that help plants grow. Who knew such a little creature could do so much for our soil? 🪱🌱 #GoGiants
