Ticket Presale forms will be sent home after Spring Break for anyone wishing to skip the line at the carnival! Did you know that today is Pi Day? The first three digits of pi are 3.14 and today is March 14th. 6th and 7th grade students in Mrs. Buck's classroom discovered that pi is the circumference divided by the diameter. They also calculated circumference and area of a circle using the digits of pi. They also enjoyed eating some delicious pie. Lastly students created a pi city by measuring the height of each digit of pi. How did you celebrate pi day?

3rd grade had a great day in math today taste testing 4 different types of pies in honor of Pi Day. After the taste testing was done, the students graphed their favorite pie of the day. Sweet potato pie was the winner!

Let's show our love GIANT NATION!!! March 17th-21st will be our Share the Love Coin Wars. Our proceeds this year will be donated to the Kankakee chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Their organization's only goal is to provide beds to children that do not have one. It takes roughly around $250 per bed, which includes lumber, materials, mattress and bedding. Winning grade levels will receive a party! Let's band together GIANTS and support local children in need and collect those coins and/or dollars!

The fifth graders in my reading class tried out a new strategy called “Quiz-Quiz-Trade” to learn their new vocabulary words. Each student had a card with a vocabulary word on it. They had to find a partner and quiz them on the vocabulary word. They would each guess each others word and then they would raise their hand to find a new partner. They would find someone else in the room with their hand up, go to them, give them a high five, and they would now be partners. Students were learning their new words while getting lots of discussion and movement opportunities.

We had a great turn out for the second annual SAGS talent show! We had 10 amazing talents with a crowd of over 60 people cheering on all our acts! In first place we had Evan Jemar, second place we had Liam Hasik and third place we had Britney Travis! We are so proud of all of the acts that performed, it took a lot of courage! We can't wait until next year's show!!!

In Ms. Goodrich's 5th grade science lesson, Solar Energy Explorer, students constructed a model solar system and gathered observations of the Sun’s apparent brightness from each planet within their model. Students then used those observations as evidence to support a claim about which planet is best suited to explore with a solar-powered planetary rover.
